Description
Mongooses bear a striking resemblance to weasels and badgers, having long faces and bodies, small, rounded ears, short legs, and long, tapering tails. They are closely related to other Madagascar carnivorans in the family Eupleridae; they have, since 2006,which include Fossa.
They are considered a pest in Hawaii since they eat the birds and bird eggs. They were introduced in Hawaii to eat rats, but Mongooses are not nocturnal. They eat snakes, lizards, insects, birds, crabs, earthworms, and carrion.
Taken with a Nikon CoolPix P900 at Kona, Hawaii.

Bunny Clarke replied:
Thank you so much Steve. Actually, they will eat anything they can. Bird eggs are the biggest issue with them. :o)
